Burton Snowboards Amp Jacket
Infi-tex acquired the textile patents and rights from SOFTSwitch, which was previously used in Burton Snowboards’ Amp Jacket, launched in 2003 as the first jacket with integrated electronics, capable of controlling the Apple iPod. The jacket used SOFTSwitch technology as a sleeve panel of switches, which can change music tracks and communicate with an iPod.
Since then, Infi-tex have updated the technology using a Bluetooth LE module, which enables communication with a phone or device on the move wirelessly, adding LED light modules for safety purposes, and using conductive Velcro patches which give the jacket flexibility for a number of interactive uses, including charging devices or stronger search lights.
